Spiti Valley Tour in Winter

Your journey to the winter wonderland of Spiti Valley begins as you board the Volvo bus to Shimla at 9:00 PM from RK Ashram Metro Station or Kashmiri gate bus stand, New Delhi. We recommend arriving in Delhi by 5:00–6:00 PM to ensure a smooth boarding experience.

Settle into your comfortable Volvo seats and enjoy the overnight journey to Shimla.

We will arrive in Shimla in the morning and switch from the Volvo bus to a comfortable Tempo Traveller to begin our drive towards Sangla Valley.

Enjoy a scenic journey through winding mountain roads, lush forests, and charming Himachali villages before entering the beautiful Baspa Valley. Upon arrival in Sangla, check in to your accommodation and take in the breathtaking alpine surroundings. You’ll have time in the evening to explore the serene village, walk along the riverside, or simply relax amidst nature.

Dinner will be served at night. Overnight stay in Sangla Valley.

After breakfast, we will begin our journey towards Tabo. On the way, we will cross Khab, the stunning confluence of the Spiti River and the Satluj River, while driving along the iconic Hindustan - Tibet Highway.

By afternoon, we will reach Nako Village, where you can explore the serene Nako Lake, beautifully surrounded by snow-covered landscapes during winter.

Next, we will proceed to Geyu Village to witness the fascinating 500-year-old naturally preserved Mummy, an ancient and unique cultural landmark that many travellers find truly intriguing.

By evening, we will arrive at Tabo village, where you will stay in a cozy homestay. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with local families and enjoy warm, delicious homemade meals, an authentic experience of Spiti’s winter hospitality.

After breakfast, we will begin our day by visiting the renowned Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest continuously operating Buddhist monasteries in the world. Known for its extraordinary ancient murals and sculptures, it is often referred to as the “Ajanta of Himachal Pradesh.”

Next, we will proceed to Dhankar Village, the former capital of Spiti Valley. Perched dramatically on a cliffside, Dhankar is famous for its historic Dhankar Monastery, offering breathtaking views of the Spiti river confluence.

Later in the afternoon, we will continue toward Kaza. If time permits, you may explore the local market in Kaza, known for handicrafts, local woolens, and Tibetan souvenirs. Overnight stay in Kaza.

After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing with a visit to the iconic Key Monastery, the largest and most famous monastery in Spiti Valley, offering breathtaking views of the rugged mountains.

Right after Key Monastery, we drive to the spectacular Chicham Bridge, Asia’s highest bridge, perched dramatically over a deep gorge. It’s one of the most scenic and thrilling spots of the entire journey, perfect for photography.

Then, we proceed to Hikkim Village, home to the World’s Highest Post Office and the World’s Highest Polling Station. You can even send yourself a postcard as a unique memory of your Spiti trip.

Our next stop is Komic Village, the world’s highest motorable village at 15,027 ft, featuring the ancient Tangyud Monastery. We end the sightseeing with a visit to Langza, known for its towering Buddha Statue and fossil-rich landscapes.

Return to Kaza in the evening. Overnight stay in Kaza.

After breakfast, we begin our return journey towards Nako. The drive from Kaza to Nako offers mesmerizing landscapes, snow-covered peaks, winding mountain roads, and stunning views of the Spiti River. We will stop for lunch en route, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh.

By evening, we will reach Nako Village, a serene high-altitude hamlet known for its traditional mud houses and breathtaking mountain vistas. After arriving, we will visit the peaceful Nako Lake, a beautiful natural lake surrounded by willow and poplar trees. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Nako.

After breakfast, we will check out from our stay in Nako and begin our journey towards Chitkul, one of the most picturesque villages in India and the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. In Chitkul, we will visit the Mathi Temple and the iconic Chitkul Bridge, surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan views. We will also enjoy a delicious lunch at the famous “Hindustan Ka Akhri Dhaba,” a must-visit experience for all travelers.

After exploring the scenic landscapes of Chitkul, we will continue towards Sangla Valley, one of the most stunning valleys in the Kinnaur region. Upon arrival, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Sangla Valley.

After breakfast, we will begin our journey from Sangla Valley to Shimla, passing through Rampur and enjoying the scenic drive along the Sutlej River.

We will reach Shimla in the evening. Known as the “Queen of Hills,” Shimla was the former summer capital during British rule and remains one of India’s most beloved hill stations. 

Later at night, we will board an overnight Volvo bus to Delhi.

We will arrive in Delhi in the morning, marking the end of your unforgettable winter Spiti Valley tour. The journey concludes with countless beautiful memories, breathtaking landscapes, and enriching cultural experiences.
