The best time to visit Spiti Valley Full Circuit is between July and October. During this period, the Manali–Atal Tunnel–Kunzum La–Kaza route remains open, allowing you to complete the full circuit. You will enter Spiti via Shimla → Kalpa → Kaza, and exit through the breathtaking route of Kaza → Kunzum Pass → Atal Tunnel → Manali.

Day 1 :

Delhi to Shimla (350 km, 10 hours)

Today, you need to report in Delhi by 5:00 PM. From there, you will travel to Shimla by an overnight Volvo bus. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a comfortable ride through the scenic highway as you head towards the Himalayan foothills. Your Spiti Valley adventure officially begins here.

Day 2 :

Shimla to Sangla Valley (190 km, 7 hrs)

In the morning, you will arrive in Shimla. After reaching, we will change the vehicle for the mountain journey. Once you freshen up, we will begin our drive towards Sangla Valley, one of the most picturesque valleys in Himachal Pradesh.

The journey offers breathtaking views of mountains, rivers, and apple orchards as you enter the beautiful Baspa Valley. You will spend the night in Sangla Valley, enjoying the serene landscape and peaceful surroundings.

Dinner will be provided at your stay, followed by an overnight stay in Sangla Valley.

Day 3 :

Sangla Valley – Chitkul – Kalpa (75 km, 2–3 hrs)

After breakfast, we will start the day by exploring the beautiful village of Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. Enjoy the stunning views of the Baspa Valley, visit the historic Mathi Temple, and walk up to the picturesque Chitkul Bridge. You can also enjoy lunch at the famous “Hindustan Ka Akhri Dhaba.”

After experiencing the natural beauty of Chitkul, we will drive back towards Sangla and continue our journey to Kalpa.

By evening, we will reach Kalpa, where you can witness the mesmerizing view of Mount Kinner Kailash. End your day with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel in Kalpa.

Day 4 :

Kalpa - Nako Lake - Geyu Mummy - Tabo (175 Km, 7 Hrs)

Morning after breakfast we will proceed to Tabo village. We will cross the Khab (Convergence of Spiti and the Satluj Rivers) through Hindustan Tibet Highway. You will witness the Leo Purygal Peak from the Khab Bridge. In the afternoon, after your lunch at Nako village, we will get into the Spiti Valley by way of Sumdo.

Now to see something interesting we will move towards the Geyu Village to see the 500 year old Mummy and travellers enjoy this place a lot. In the evening we will reach Tabo village. There will be a homestay and it's a great chance to talk to the people and have delicious homemade food in Spiti.

Day 5 :

Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza (90 km, 3–4 hrs)

Today morning, we will visit the Tabo Monastery, also known as the “Ajanta of Himachal Pradesh.” This ancient monastery is famous for its remarkable paintings, murals, and sculptures preserved for over a thousand years.

After exploring Tabo, we will proceed to Dhankar Village, the former capital of Spiti Valley. Dhankar is known for its dramatic cliff-side Dhankar Monastery, offering stunning panoramic views. From here, you have the option to do the Dhankar Lake Trek, a scenic 3 km trek.

Total time (up & down): approx. 3 hrs
This trek is optional and suitable for those who wish to enjoy a peaceful high-altitude lake.

After completing the sightseeing, we will head towards Kaza. Reach Kaza by evening, check in, enjoy dinner, and relax after a fulfilling day.

Day 6 :

Kaza – Key Monastery – Hikkim – Komik – Langza – Kaza (75 km, 2–3 hrs)

The sixth day of our trip will begin with breakfast. After that, we will proceed to visit the world-famous Key Monastery, the largest and most iconic monastery in Spiti Valley. You will have ample time to explore the monastery and enjoy its breathtaking panoramic views. Next, we will head towards Komic Village, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, located at an altitude of 4,587 meters. Komic is home to the historic Tangyud Monastery, known for its ancient murals and serene atmosphere.

From Komic, we will continue to Hikkim Village, which is world famous for having the highest post office in the world (4,440 m). Don’t forget to send yourself or your loved ones a postcard from this unique location. Our next stop will be Langza, known for its giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley and its fossil-rich landscapes.

In the evening, we will return to Kaza, where you can stroll through the local market to buy souvenirs, handicrafts, and memorable Spiti artifacts. Overnight stay and dinner will be at your hotel in Kaza.

Day 7 :

Kaza - Chicham bridge - Kunzum Pass - Chandratal Lake (120 Km, 7 hrs)

Today after breakfast at your hotel in Kaza, we will proceed towards Chandratal Lake. On the way, you will travel through the majestic Kunzum Pass, known as the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti, offering stunning panoramic mountain views. You will also get to visit the iconic Chicham Bridge, one of the highest bridges in Asia.

We will reach Chandratal Lake by evening. After arriving, you can relax by the lake’s crystal-clear blue waters and soak in the magical beauty of the surroundings. As the lake is situated at an altitude of over 14,000 ft, the temperature drops significantly, so heavy woolen clothes are essential.

Night stay will be in camps located about 2 km before the lake, as camping near the lake is not allowed. Enjoy a warm dinner at the campsite with fellow travelers, an unforgettable experience under the star-lit Spiti sky. Spend the night in the peaceful open meadows of Chandratal.

Day 08 :

Chandratal – Atal Tunnel – Manali – Delhi (120 km, 7–8 hrs)

Today, the journey begins around 7–8 AM from Chandratal. We will drive towards Manali via the Atal Tunnel, the world’s longest highway tunnel, which significantly reduces travel time and provides spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

On the way, you will pass through Batal, Chatru, and Gramphu, witnessing the unique landscapes and high-altitude terrains of Spiti Valley one last time.

We will reach Manali by evening. From there, you will board an overnight Volvo bus to Delhi.

Day 09 :

Arrival in Delhi

Today in the morning, around 8–10 AM, you will arrive in Delhi. Your Spiti Adventure Full Circuit Tour concludes here, leaving you with unforgettable memories of the stunning landscapes, remote villages, and cultural experiences of Spiti Valley.

How is the weather in Spiti Valley?

During the months of June to September the temperature goes to The 20 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 5-10 degrees Celsius. Some of the places in Spiti Valley are very cold and chilly including Bataal, Hansa, Chandratal.

During winter months from December to February the temperature goes to -30 degrees Celsius. As we well know that Spiti valley is a cold desert so there is no such thing at that time.

How to reach Spiti Valley?

There are 2 routes to visit Spiti located in Himachal: via Shimla and via Manali.

The Shimla route, taking the Hindustan-Tibet highway, goes: Shimla–Narkanda–Rampur–Powari–Spillow–Khab Bridge–Nako–Chango–Sumdo–Tabo–Kaza. Spiti Valley starts after Sumdo. This route remains accessible all year.

The Manali route goes: Manali–Atal Tunnel–Gramphu–Chhatru–Chota Dhara–Batal–Kunzum Pass–Losar–Kaza, and is only accessible between June-October First Week.

How many days do I need for a Spiti Valley road trip?

Starting from Delhi/Chandigarh, a minimum of 8-10 days is needed to explore the mystical Spiti Valley and its offerings. What clothes should I carry on a Spiti Valley trip?

You should choose your wardrobe depending on when you’re visiting Spiti. The staple items that you’ll need all year round are:

Thermal inners and a light fleece jacket
Socks, gloves, and a monkey cap or balaclava – all woolen or fleece material
Proper shoes with enough insulation for comfortable long journeys
Hat, sunglasses, sun protection cream and lotion

Apart from these, choose clothes that can be worn in layers so that they can be removed or added depending on temperature. Light woolens will suffice between June-August. But March-June or September-November will require heavy woolens. Although if you’re travelling in winter between December-April, you need to pack very carefully to protect yourself against the merciless cold and winds.

What permits are needed to visit Spiti Valley?

Permits are generally required for foreign nationals visiting Spiti. A Protected Area Permit(PAP) can be obtained from Shimla or Kaza depending on the route you’re taking. For Indian nationals, a government identity proof like passport/voter ID/Aadhar is enough. All permit fees are included in your Spiti Valley package so that you can enjoy a hassle-free trip.

What are the network services available in Spiti Valley?

For good connectivity, there is BSNL, AIRTEL, JIO. Sometimes due to lack of electricity, the phone lines don’t work.

What is a Homestay accommodation mean?

Homestays are perfectly suited for the phrase ‘home away from home. Homestays are where you can stay with the local family and live with them, experience their culture and practices, share meals with them, help them with their regular activities.

In Spiti Valley, Homestays are very primarily made up of mud. Mostly people eat vegetarian food, meat is not accessible in this region. There are eco-friendly toilet facilities in the homes. There is bedding for you to keep you warm during the night.

In simple words guests at the Homestays are accommodated in the family house that will provide you with the basic but tasty food.

What should we do to avoid high altitude sickness?

It is strongly recommended to adopt and acclimatize yourself before indulging in any physical activities.

Is alcohol and smoking allowed during the tour?

No, as a guide we don’t allow you to consume alcohol during the journey.
