Brahmatal Trek Itinerary
Day 1 – Pickup from Kathgodam railway station and drive to Lohajung
This is the day we meet our trekkers at Kathgodam Railway Station in the morning and drive to the Lohajung base camp. Lohajung is a place in Uttarakhand under Chamoli district and is technically the foothills, which is why it is often the starting point of a great many Himalayan treks. Lohajung altitude is 7,600 feet. It takes about 9 to 10 hours to reach the campsite and the drive offers a very picturesque view of the mountains. You can already see Mt. Trishul, Mt. nanda Devi and MT. Hathi Ghoda on the way accompanied by scenic views of hill stations like Almora and more. You will stay the night in the Lohajung camp and begin the trek from here.
Day 2 – Trek from Lohajung to Bekaltal
On the second day the actual trek begins from Lohajung base camp to Bekaltal. The stunning adventurous roads take you through the dense oak and pine forests with snow-covered branches of rhododendron trees. Although if you are visiting in Spring, you can witness the beautiful display of rhododendrons in full bloom. The vibrancy of their fiery pink and crimson colours is astounding. As you climb further, you will come across the Kail Valley and Pindari rivers. Here we cross the bridge over the stream and halt at Begum, which lets you feast your eyes on the view of the Navali Bugyal. After successfully trekking for 4 to 5 hours you reach Bekaltal. The camps are set by the picturesque Khopdaliya Lake.
Day 3 – Trek from Bekaltal to Brahmatal
This is the second most important day of the trek from Bekaltal to Brahmatal. After filling your bellies begins the journey to Brahmatal. Once again the path goes through the oak forests and rhododendron trees. The trees form a dense canopy overhead while you walk on soft powder-white snow beneath you. The experience is nothing short of magical. You can also expect to see a flock of pretty colourful birds occasionally on the way. The forest leads the way to an opening which drops into your view the formidable and gorgeous massif of Mount Trishul. After a bit of steep climb you reach Jhandi Top, and the view from here will leave you spellbound. Jhandi Top drops you bang in the centre of the mountains and you will get to experience a panoramic view of the glistening mountain peaks.
Day 4 – Trek from Brahmatal to Brahmatal Top and onto Daldum/Khorurai
This is the day when you embark on the much awaited Brahmatal trek from your previous campsite and finally reach the Brahmatal Top in about 7 hours. Mount Trishul and Mount Nanda Ghunti form a wall of ice on both sides of the trail keeping constant company. The adventurous route takes you through other attractions like the Chota and Bada Jhandidar. From the Brahmatal Peak you can also see Mount Neelkanth, Mount Chaukhambha and Mount Hathi Ghoda. Day 5 – Trek back from Daldum/Khorurai to Lohajung
And we have reached the final day of the trek, bidding goodbye to the frosty mountain peaks and promising to return again. We trek back to Lohajung from Daldum in a span of 3-4 hours, enjoying and relaxing, stopping at little streams on the way. Upon reaching Lohajung you can set out to explore this beautiful place that gets its name from our mythology.
Day 6 – Drive back to Kathgodam from Lohajung
We drive back to Kathgodam from Lohajung on this day covering a distance of approximately 216 kms. This is where everybody goes their separate ways only to meet again on another trek sometime soon in the future.

What are washroom/toilet facilities like on the Brahmatal trek?
You will be provided with proper waterproof toilet tents. The toilet tents will have deep pits which you will cover up with a mound of soil and a shovel, given to you, after use. This is the most hygienic way of disposing human waste in the wild. Also, toilet paper is preferable over wet wipes.

The meals will mostly be vegetarian. All meals starting from the first night at Lohajung to the morning of the final day will be provided by us.
